On Monday, the tribunal learned phone records and evidence retrieved from phones logged Ms Wandelt consistently requesting Madeleine's mother for a DNA test during that period.

Madeleine's disappearance in 2007 - as a three-year-old during a family holiday in Portugal - is one of the most widely reported investigations and continues to be unresolved.

'I Do Not Need Money'

One voicemail, played in court, captured Ms Wandelt declaring: "I understand I'm fat and unattractive like Madeleine was, but I feel what I know."

While another instance of Ms Wandelt's one-way conversations with Mrs McCann's recording expressed: "What if there is a small chance that I am Madeleine? What happens next? Isn't that significant for you?"

"I don't want money, I possess a living here in Poland, I only wish to understand," the recording stated.

The panel was advised that by means of emails, text messages and calls, Ms Wandelt requested a DNA test, sent early photographs to her phone in a bid to display a resemblance to Mrs McCann's missing daughter, and claimed to have "memories" from a youth with the McCanns.

An intelligence analyst, a data specialist with the police force who gathered the evidence, told the court there "seemed to lack any answers" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt additionally reached out to close associates of the McCanns, based on the call data.

On 9 October 2024, Mr McCann answered a communication from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, stating she had "the wrong phone."

That day Ms Wandelt deposited a voicemail on Mrs McCann's recording declaring "I won't give up and I plan to establish my claim."

The court heard Mrs Spragg developed a connection online with Ms Wandelt preceding accompanying her on a trip to the McCanns' property in Leicestershire in last December.

Communication data showed Mrs Spragg had reached out using messaging service to Mrs McCann to say the press had portrayed Ms Wandelt as "mentally unstable" but that she ought to be treated respectfully in the time before the trip to Rothley, that area, in that winter.

The court learned correspondence between the two accused, in November 2024, considering trying to get Mrs McCann's genetic material from her bins or from utensils at a dining venue.

"We must assert ourselves," Mrs Spragg told Ms Wandelt.

On the night of the trip to their residence, the defendant dispatched a communication which stated: "We are sat adjacent to the McCanns' house with our vehicle dark like investigators. I wanted to accomplish this with another person I didn't imagine I would be involved in this with the McCanns."

The case proceeds.
