The Blue Jays Earn Fall Classic Meeting Versus defending champion Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

The outfielder was instrumental for the Houston Astros securing the World Series in 2017.

Canada's MLB team reached their maiden championship series since 1993 by overcoming the Mariners in the final game seven of the American League Championship Series.

Down three runs to one, outfielder George Springer delivered a three-run blast in the seventh inning, guiding the sole Canadian team in Major League Baseball to a 4-3 series win in the series. Awaiting them are the Dodgers, holders of the current crown, in the forthcoming World Series.

"I'm just so happy for our team, our city, Canada," Springer stated, an integral part of the Astros team that secured the 2017 World Series. "This is such an incredible feeling."

George Springer has now hit 23 post-season home runs, placing him third on the list behind Ramirez (29) and Altuve (twenty-seven).

"There's probably not another person anywhere that I want up in that situation besides him with his October magic," noted manager John Schneider.

Seattle, despite leading the series two games to none and three games to two, remain the sole team yet to make an appearance in a Fall Classic.

Manager Dan Wilson commented "without a doubt that it's painful" in the wake of his team's loss at Rogers Centre, but applauded their performance this season.

"This is a unique group. It's a shame that we had to come out on the wrong side of the series," he remarked.

Toronto claimed the championship on each of their earlier trips in the early 90s, and are set to host the Dodgers in game one on Friday.
