The Porcine Pardon: Hog Named Six Seven Spared by Miami Dade County Leader.

Although not quite at the same level as granting clemency to holiday birds, but the mayor of Miami-Dade experienced a Donald Trump moment this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava carried out the annual tradition at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“This pig is innocent. Clemency is justified for her. Her criminal record is spotless,” Levine Cava said in a speech with clear references to the extraordinary and sizable number of pardons issued from the start of the onset of a new presidential term.

“Except perhaps for eating six or seven apples per day,” the mayor added. “May this pig enjoy a prosperous future free from concern.”

The event, which both honors and questions the area's customary feast of feasting on pork during the holidays, was founded to replicate the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The pig, donated by a local firefighter, was named for the modern linguistic fad of young people shouting “six seven” – inspired by a musical verse – often without clear purpose. The craze became so widespread that a leading lexicon site recently named “six-seven” its annual vocabulary selection.

A Future Secured

The pardoned swine is now destined to live out its days at a countryside refuge “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the event’s official press release.

“The pig pardon has become a cherished method to begin the holiday season,” said Eric Castellanos, in a particularly upbeat message.

“It represents the essence of Miami: joyful, diverse, and grounded in customs that foster togetherness. Annually, we are honored to observe culture and compassion in a way distinctively Miamian.”

Attendees enjoyed a meat-free selection of spinach fritters and strong coffee as they toasted the pig's pardon.
