World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been chosen the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second consecutive year.

The twenty-seven-year-old won four tournament victories – the highest tally on the circuit – including retaining the US Open in September against Amanda Anisimova to claim her fourth Grand Slam singles title.

A Year of Dominance

Over the course of the tour, Sabalenka reached a tour-best nine championship matches, with defeats coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.

The star player also won the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She spent the whole season as the top-ranked player, ending 2025 on top of the rankings for a second straight year.

This past summer, she achieved the status of being the first athlete to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.

Record-Breaking Statistics

Sabalenka ended the season with a 63-12 win-loss record, and earned a historic £11m in earnings.

She garnered almost eighty percent of the votes cast by international tennis media.

Later this month, she is scheduled to face 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match in a bid to "raise women's tennis to a greater prominence".

Additional WTA Award Winners

• Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, received the award after taking extended hiatus after the arrival of her first child and making her comeback to the sport earlier this season.
• Newcomer of the Year: Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko received the award after starting the season ranked outside the world's top 300 and rising to the eighteenth spot.
• Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend earned the title after securing their second career Grand Slam title as a pair.
• Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after making five championship matches.

Recently, Carlos Alcaraz took home three honours in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, including the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was voted fans' favourite for a third consecutive time.
