Trump's Business Attempted to Hire Almost 200 Workers on Work Permits in 2025

Donald Trump’s family business accelerated its hiring of overseas employees on temporary visas this period, while his government was creating barriers for other companies attempting to do the identical, an analysis released Thursday claimed.

Based on information from the US Department of Labor, the business sought to hire at least nearly 200 foreign workers in the coming year for temporary positions at the former president’s Florida property, golf facilities and his winery in Virginia.

The quantity of applications for H-2A and H-2B visas covering staff including waitstaff, office assistants, cleaning staff, culinary employees and agricultural laborers was the record filed by the company, and up from over 120 in the previous term, when Trump’s first term concluded.

It was also the fifth time in a decade that Trump had sought to bring in more than 100 overseas workers for temporary positions at his Florida resort, based on labor statistics.

The revelation coincides with a crackdown on immigration laws by his government that has included the introduction of a $100,000 fee on skilled worker visas; extra scrutiny of the actions of the 55 million people who already hold American work permits; and restrictive new rules for international scholars and reporters.

Overall, the Trump Organization sought to hire 566 overseas workers over the five years the former president has been in the White House, from 2017 to 2021 and during the upcoming year.

Notably, Trump was questioned by some in the GOP this week for comments justifying the need for foreign workers when a business was unable to find people with “specific talents” to fill certain positions.

“You can’t just say a nation is entering, going to invest billions to build a plant, and going to recruit individuals off an unemployment line who have been unemployed in five years, and they’re going to start producing their missiles. It doesn’t work that well,” he told a interviewer after she suggested that foreign workers lower the pay of US workers.

The White House declined a request for response, and the Trump Organization did not immediately respond to an request for information.
